UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE

Stop Error – STOP 0x0000007F or UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

Cause – Hardware failure, like defective memory chips, mismatched memory modules, a malfunctioning CPU, or a failure in your fan or power supply are the probable reasons for this BSOD. (Also occurs if you overclock your CPU.)

Resolution –

Sometimes a simple restart is all that is necessary to clear this error.

If you overclocked your PC recently consider Defaulting your CMOS settings.

Sometimes this error may be caused because of dust or carbon covered PCI components like external LAN cards, TV tuner cards, etc. Remove them and clean them also remove the drivers under safe mode.

(For PC’s with dual channel RAM or multiple sticks of RAM)

Shut your PC off.

Remove a single stick of RAM and power your PC back on.

(Note – If you have the same Stop Error shut your PC down and try replacing the next stick of RAM.)

Check inside you computer making sure all system fans and CPU fans are operating.

Check your Power Supply Unit with a multi-meter.
